To be honest, I purchased this GIR’s Mini Spatula completely by accident, thinking I was ordering the brand’s 11-inch tool. Upon unboxing, I even considered returning it but was immediately intrigued by its 8-inch length. It’s a fun-sized version with all the thoughtful design details GIR is known for: a slanted edge that’s perfect for scooping the curved bottoms of small jars and containers, a comfortable-to-hold handle, and a sturdy yet flexible structure. In just two months, GIR’s mini spatula has become an indispensable part of my breakfast routine. I reach for it every morning when I’m making scrambled eggs. The small size is easy to hold and maneuver, which is helpful when scraping excess egg bits from the bowl and swirling yolks around in the pan. The flat head also makes the transfer from pan to plate a breeze since it swoops up every last bit and helps me layer all of the toppings on my toast.
But it’s not just a breakfast superhero. Most recently, I’ve used it for mixing soups, scooping thick yogurt out of the container, sauteing onions, and frosting brownies. The small head allows me to frost every little nook and cranny of my desserts and swoop up any excess splatters of food that are left in the bowl. Bonus: it’s even super easy to clean since you can pop it in the dishwasher.
Like many, I’m blessed with a kitchen with very little drawer space. Thankfully, this little tool doesn’t need much of it. In fact, I have to make sure it doesn’t get lost in my stack of kitchen tools.
